Our Leadership

Pastor John and Shannon married in 2005 and are the parents of two incredible sons, Aiden and Asher. John is a native of North Carolina and Shannon’s hometown is White Bear Lake, MN. They began to feel the call to plant a church in 2009, and through a series of open doors and answered prayers, they launched North Star in February of 2011 in the AMC Movie Theater of Coon Rapids. After seven location changes, they found their official home for North Star when they purchased the property off Crooked Lake and Northdale Boulevard in 2017. They’ve enjoyed watching God do the miraculous in both big, and small ways, as He’s built and incredible church community around them.  They can’t wait for the future of what is in store for this faith community, and they truly believe that the BEST is YET to come!

Pastor Luke graduated from North Central in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in Youth Ministry. Luke and his wife Alyssa are parents to three lively kiddos, Jace, Zayn & Raina. The Eaton’s love serving the next generation and are passionate about seeing them not just succeed, but lead! They love partnering with parents to help students grow into their full potential in their faith.

Meet Deborah, our K-5th Elementary Education Director! During the week, she works as an Assistant General Manager at Goldfish Swim School in Minnetonka. After college, Deborah served as a Chi Alpha missionary and later spent seven years as a children’s pastor. She loves helping kids know Jesus, grow in their faith, and feel right at home. Deborah is thrilled to be part of the North Star Community Church family!

Caitlin is attending North Central University studying Elementary Education and will graduate in the Spring of 2022. She grew up in a Pastor’s home and has been actively involved in ministry all of her life.  She’s been a part of North Central University’s Worship Live Team and has enjoyed traveling and leading worship all over the Midwest. She has a heart for the local church and serving her community in any way she can. Caitlin enjoys camping, hiking, playing music, and volunteering with the children and youth in the community

Myleah was an active part of the Dream Team for five years before she joined the staff at North Star in 2021. She was born and raised in Anoka County and loves being a part of serving this community. She met and married her high school sweetheart, Jason, and they share the joy of raising their 3 children- Jacob, Maya, & Joshua. She has a heart for hospitality and loves creating spaces and places where people can feel welcome and appreciated at North Star!

Amber began attending North Star in the fall of 2022 after a chance encounter with Pastor John at a nearby coffee shop. After years of church-hopping, she and her husband Darin finally discovered what it means to have a “home church.” As a retired wedding and family photographer, Amber’s passion was reignited when she saw the need for baptism photos. She jumped in wholeheartedly—helping with events, managing social media, applying her graphic design skills, updating interiors, photographing, and casting vision for people-focused initiatives at the church.

Her husband Darin plays drums on the worship team, and together they have two sons, Oliver and Archer. Amber officially joined the North Star staff in July 2025 and is loving crafting her role—finding creative, simpler ways to share information and help the church community experience and spread the message of Jesus.
